Batanes is located in the northern most tip of the Philippines, comprised of 10 islands, of which only 3 are inhabited. It is closer to Taiwan than to Manila. With its lush landscape and rolling hills, cattle, horses and sheep graze freely. One of the hills is called Marlborough Country
Naidi lighthouse or Farola
Basco Rolling Hills boast of the perfect combination of landscapes & seascapes, and an abundance of free ranging cows, carabows, goats, horses.
Beaches are surrounded by rich coral reefs which are sanctuaries to lush marine life
Bridge made of coral stone & lime built in the 1800's is still actively in use
We were quite lucky to have Lydia, the owner of Amazing Batanes Tours, to also be a caterer with a family in Orange County CA.We had a different dish for every single meal. We were served escargot, octupus ceviche (sisig), sauteed locally- grown mushrooms, the fern salad with tomatoes and red onions were to die for, fish lumpia, fried flying fish, etc.
